Tricks AND Treats- Tricks to be aware of and the treats to enjoy!

Tis the season for all things chocolate and candy.

There is no escaping it.

Everything is pumpkin spiced, chocolate coated and readily offered in tempting quantities 😵‍💫

If you are making an effort to prioritize your health, you already know that you are going to have to be intentional with what you choose to indulge in. In fact, you may already have your favorite fall treats planned out and you cannot wait for the chance to enjoy them. (I’ll take all your Twix please)

And to this I say: go for it! Absolutely enjoy those seasonal favorites! 

You are allowed to have some treats and take part in the fun of the holiday without depriving yourself. 👐🏻

When it comes to the Twix, Reeses and Snickers bars, you already know the havoc that kind of  sugar wrecks on your body. 

You know to proceed with caution when it comes to the candy, the chocolate, the scones, cakes and caramel coated apples. 

You do make a conscious effort to minimize these things and focus on other foods instead. 

It’s all those hidden sugars that are out there to trick you- these are the ones you want to beware of.

The food labeled and marketed in a way that makes you assume it’s healthy. 

“Made with vegetables!”

“100% whole grain”

“All natural!” 

“Added fiber and protein!”  

It is SO easy to get tricked by deceitful marketing campaigns that promise added nutrients, “natural” ingredients and healthy alternatives. 

It’s SO easy to think you are making a good choice when what you’re eating is actually full of hidden ingredients that spike your blood sugars, put your hunger in overdrive and induce inflammation throughout your entire body. 

So while you are out there enjoying the treats of the season and soaking up the haunts of Halloween, don’t get fooled by the sugars lurking in some of your seemingly healthy favorites.
